Online KS3 tutors | Years 7–9 tuition (ages 11–14)

One-to-one KS3 tuition with qualified UK secondary teachers. Years 7 to 9 are where gaps form quietly — no national test, no obvious warning — and where a weekly hour buys far more progress than the same hour bought in Year 11.

KS3 tutoring supports pupils in Years 7 to 9 across English, maths, science and humanities, building directly towards GCSE. Learning Loft delivers it 1-to-1 online with qualified UK secondary teachers.

Why KS3 is the highest-value point to start

Because there is no national assessment at the end of Key Stage 3, drift goes unnoticed until GCSE courses begin — by which point the same gap costs far more time to close. Pupils can look as though they are coping in Year 7 and then stall sharply in Year 9.

KS3 tuition is about securing the transferable habits: fluent reading, sentence control, algebraic manipulation, and supporting a claim with evidence. Those four things carry most of the marks at GCSE regardless of subject.

What we cover in Years 7, 8 and 9

  • English: reading comprehension, creative and transactional writing, poetry and Shakespeare
  • Maths: number fluency, algebra, ratio and proportion, geometry
  • Science: working scientifically, biology, chemistry and physics foundations
  • History and geography: source work, case studies and extended answers
  • French and Spanish: grammar, vocabulary and speaking confidence
  • Study skills: revision, retrieval practice and organisation

Building GCSE readiness in Year 9

Year 9 is the bridge year. Options are chosen, and in many schools GCSE content starts. We use Year 9 to introduce assessment objectives explicitly, to move pupils onto sustained written answers under time pressure, and to fix accuracy issues while there is still slack in the timetable.

Lessons run live in LoftClass, Learning Loft's own browser-based classroom — not a generic video call. Shared whiteboard, document and screen sharing, live captions and optional recording are built in, so a pupil can re-watch the exact explanation they need later in the week.

Frequently asked questions

How do I request a KS3 tutor?

Tell us the pupil’s year group, subject and preferred times. We will match a suitable qualified UK teacher and confirm an available slot. The first consultation is free.

Is KS3 too early for tutoring?

No — it is often the most efficient point to start. Reading, writing accuracy and algebraic fluency are still being formed in Years 7 to 9, so a gap fixed now costs far less time than the same gap fixed in Year 11.

Which KS3 subjects do you tutor?

English, maths, science, history, geography, French, Spanish and computing, plus study skills. Other subjects are sometimes available on request — ask at the free consultation.

Do you follow my child's school scheme of work?

Yes. Schools sequence KS3 very differently, so we work from your child's own curriculum, books and assessments rather than a fixed programme.
