Who this is for
A large number of Chinese families prepare children for UK independent schools and universities, either through a British-curriculum international school or alongside a domestic school. English academic writing, rather than subject knowledge, is very often the limiting factor.
Why families in China come to us
- Academic English writing for pupils whose subject knowledge outpaces their written expression
- UK boarding-school entrance and interview preparation
- A-Level Maths and Sciences taught in English ahead of UK university entry
- Building confidence in spoken academic English before an interview or an oral assessment
Qualifications we support
Cambridge IGCSE and A-Level are the most common routes for pupils aiming at UK universities. Many pupils are working in English as an additional language at a high level, which changes how a tutor should teach essay structure, source analysis and extended response.

Gaokao English support
Learning Loft can provide subject-specific support for Gaokao English where an appropriately experienced educator is available. Current support includes continuation writing, practical writing, natural vocabulary, descriptive detail and confident English expression. This is focused English tuition rather than a complete Gaokao programme.

Time zones and scheduling
China Standard Time is UTC+8 nationwide, seven to eight hours ahead of the UK.
18:00–20:00 China time corresponds to 10:00–12:00 in the UK, so weekday evening slots are straightforward to staff.
Sessions are booked as a fixed weekly slot wherever possible, so the appointment becomes part of the week rather than something renegotiated every Sunday. If a school trip or a family holiday gets in the way, the slot can be moved.
How the sessions work
- Tell us the school, board and year group. That is what determines the right tutor — not a general subject label.
- Free 15-minute discovery call. We check the match before you pay for anything.
- Live sessions in LoftClass. Our own virtual classroom, built for teaching rather than adapted from business video-conferencing: shared whiteboard, document sharing, recordings.
- A short written summary after each session so parents in a different time zone still know what was covered and what to practise.

Who teaches the sessions
Every tutor is a UK-qualified, DBS-checked teacher with classroom experience of the specification they teach. We do not recruit undergraduates, and we do not claim accreditations, awards or partnerships we do not hold. Learning Loft is a UK company; all tuition is delivered online from the UK.
