Who this is for
Hong Kong's ESF schools and independent international schools produce a large cohort sitting British qualifications, and there is an unusually strong tradition of families preparing children for UK boarding schools from Year 6 onward. Competition for places sharpens the demand for interview and entrance-exam preparation.
Why families in Hong Kong come to us
- UK boarding-school entrance preparation, including pre-tests and interview practice
- Early-morning tuition before the school day, which suits UK tutors starting at 09:00 GMT
- English Literature essay coaching for pupils who read fluently but write to a formula
- A-Level support for students applying to UK universities
Qualifications we support
Pearson Edexcel International GCSE and Cambridge IGCSE lead at Key Stage 4, with A-Levels and the IB both present at sixth form. UK boarding entrance assessments — including ISEB Common Pre-Tests and school-specific papers — are a distinct and significant strand of demand.

Time zones and scheduling
Hong Kong is UTC+8 — seven to eight hours ahead of the UK, so scheduling needs a little more thought than a Gulf booking.
The two workable windows are 07:00–08:30 Hong Kong time (late evening UK the night before is avoided in favour of early UK-morning tutors) and 17:00–19:00 Hong Kong time, which is 09:00–11:00 in the UK.
Sessions are booked as a fixed weekly slot wherever possible, so the appointment becomes part of the week rather than something renegotiated every Sunday. If a school trip or a family holiday gets in the way, the slot can be moved.
How the sessions work
- Tell us the school, board and year group. That is what determines the right tutor — not a general subject label.
- Free 15-minute discovery call. We check the match before you pay for anything.
- Live sessions in LoftClass. Our own virtual classroom, built for teaching rather than adapted from business video-conferencing: shared whiteboard, document sharing, recordings.
- A short written summary after each session so parents in a different time zone still know what was covered and what to practise.

Tell us your child's age, curriculum, country and local availability and we'll match you with the right UK-based teacher.
Who teaches the sessions
Every tutor is a UK-qualified, DBS-checked teacher with classroom experience of the specification they teach. We do not recruit undergraduates, and we do not claim accreditations, awards or partnerships we do not hold. Learning Loft is a UK company; all tuition is delivered online from the UK.
