Online British-curriculum tutoring in Malta

Learning Loft tutors pupils in Malta studying IGCSE, GCSE and A-Level subjects, live and one to one with UK-qualified teachers on LoftClass. Malta is one hour ahead of the UK.

Who this is for

Malta's education system has deep British roots, and English is an official language, so pupils generally arrive with strong spoken English. British-curriculum and international schools serve both Maltese families and a growing relocating expatriate population, and UK qualifications are widely recognised locally.

Why families in Malta come to us

  • Families choosing UK qualifications as a route to British universities
  • Relocating expatriate families continuing an interrupted UK course
  • Written accuracy and analytical writing in English for confident speakers
  • Maths and Science support where school option groups are large

Qualifications we support

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE and Cambridge IGCSE are both taken, alongside local MATSEC qualifications in state schools. Where families want a UK university route, IGCSE and A-Level are the usual choice, and we support that route specifically.

  • Pearson Edexcel International GCSE
  • Cambridge IGCSE
  • A-Level
  • KS2 and KS3

Time zones and scheduling

Malta is UTC+1 in winter and UTC+2 in summer, one hour ahead of the UK.

17:00–20:00 local time suits most families and sits comfortably inside a UK tutor's working day.

Sessions are booked as a fixed weekly slot wherever possible, so the appointment becomes part of the week rather than something renegotiated every Sunday. If a school trip or a family holiday gets in the way, the slot can be moved.

How the sessions work

  1. Tell us the school, board and year group. That is what determines the right tutor — not a general subject label.
  2. Free 15-minute discovery call. We check the match before you pay for anything.
  3. Live sessions in LoftClass. Our own virtual classroom, built for teaching rather than adapted from business video-conferencing: shared whiteboard, document sharing, recordings.
  4. A short written summary after each session so parents in a different time zone still know what was covered and what to practise.

Who teaches the sessions

Every tutor is a UK-qualified, DBS-checked teacher with classroom experience of the specification they teach. We do not recruit undergraduates, and we do not claim accreditations, awards or partnerships we do not hold. Learning Loft is a UK company; all tuition is delivered online from the UK.

Frequently asked questions

Do you teach the MATSEC syllabus?

No. We specialise in the British curriculum — IGCSE, GCSE and A-Level — and would rather say so than claim coverage we do not have.

My child speaks excellent English. Why would writing be an issue?

Spoken fluency and written academic register are different skills. Most of our Malta-based work is on structure, evidence use and precision against the mark scheme rather than language itself.

Are lessons recorded?

Yes. Every LoftClass session can be recorded so your child can revisit explanations before an assessment.

How do I request a tutor?

Tell us the pupil’s year group, subject, exam board and preferred times. We will match a suitable UK-qualified teacher and confirm an available slot.
