Who this is for
British-curriculum schools are concentrated in Lisbon, Cascais, Porto and the Algarve, serving a fast-growing community of relocating British families. Because much of this growth is recent, some pupils arrive from a UK school mid-key-stage and need continuity rather than remediation.
Why families in Portugal come to us
- Recently relocated UK families keeping their child on track through the move
- Pupils who switched from domestic GCSE to IGCSE partway through Year 10
- Sixth formers keeping UK university options open
- Primary pupils maintaining English and Maths in line with the national curriculum
Qualifications we support
Cambridge IGCSE and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE are both used, with A-Levels at sixth form. Pupils who moved from a UK school may have started domestic GCSE specifications and then switched to an international equivalent — the content overlap is substantial but the assessment differs.
- Cambridge IGCSE
- Pearson Edexcel International GCSE
- GCSE
- A-Level
- KS1 and KS2
What families in Portugal ask for most
- Secondary English and IGCSE English with UK-based English teachers
- EAL and spoken-English confidence — academic English with live conversation and discussion

Time zones and scheduling
Mainland Portugal shares the UK's time zone all year, which makes scheduling as straightforward as tutoring a family in Bristol.
Any standard after-school slot works — 16:00 to 20:00 local time is identical to the UK.
Sessions are booked as a fixed weekly slot wherever possible, so the appointment becomes part of the week rather than something renegotiated every Sunday. If a school trip or a family holiday gets in the way, the slot can be moved.
How the sessions work
- Tell us the school, board and year group. That is what determines the right tutor — not a general subject label.
- Free 15-minute discovery call. We check the match before you pay for anything.
- Live sessions in LoftClass. Our own virtual classroom, built for teaching rather than adapted from business video-conferencing: shared whiteboard, document sharing, recordings.
- A short written summary after each session so parents in a different time zone still know what was covered and what to practise.
Find a tutor in your time zone
Tell us your child's age, curriculum, country and local availability and we'll match you with the right UK-based teacher.
Who teaches the sessions
Every tutor is a UK-qualified, DBS-checked teacher with classroom experience of the specification they teach. We do not recruit undergraduates, and we do not claim accreditations, awards or partnerships we do not hold. Learning Loft is a UK company; all tuition is delivered online from the UK.
