Who this is for
British schools cluster around Madrid, Barcelona, the Costa del Sol, Alicante and the Balearics, alongside Spanish schools attended by British families who still want their children to sit UK qualifications. Some pupils sit IGCSEs privately rather than through a school.
Why families in Spain come to us
- British families in Spanish state or concertado schools who want their child to sit IGCSEs
- Private-candidate pupils studying largely independently and needing structured teaching
- Bilingual pupils who speak fluent English but write below the level of their spoken language
- Families planning a return to the UK school system
Qualifications we support
Pearson Edexcel International GCSE and Cambridge IGCSE both feature, with A-Levels at sixth form. Private candidates are common in Spain, and entering as a private candidate has its own deadlines and centre requirements that families need to plan around early.

Moving between Spanish, British and UK schools
Some children in Spain attend British schools, some attend Spanish or bilingual schools, and some families plan to return to the UK. Tutoring can keep a child on track with the English National Curriculum or a UK exam board whichever school they attend, and Spain being only one hour ahead of the UK makes lesson times easy to arrange.
Primary, KS2 and secondary support for families in Spain
Families in Spain often ask for primary English and maths support alongside a Spanish or bilingual school, so children stay ready for a British school or a return to the UK. Younger pupils can work on KS2 English and maths, including reading and writing and times tables and arithmetic. Older pupils can work towards GCSE, IGCSE or A-Level with a teacher who knows their board.

Time zones and scheduling
Mainland Spain is UTC+1 in winter and UTC+2 in summer — one hour ahead of the UK. The Canary Islands are on UK time.
Spanish school days often finish later than in the UK, so 18:00–21:00 local time is the most common booking window.
Sessions are booked as a fixed weekly slot wherever possible, so the appointment becomes part of the week rather than something renegotiated every Sunday. If a school trip or a family holiday gets in the way, the slot can be moved.
How the sessions work
- Tell us the school, board and year group. That is what determines the right tutor — not a general subject label.
- Free 15-minute discovery call. We check the match before you pay for anything.
- Live sessions in LoftClass. Our own virtual classroom, built for teaching rather than adapted from business video-conferencing: shared whiteboard, document sharing, recordings.
- A short written summary after each session so parents in a different time zone still know what was covered and what to practise.

Who teaches the sessions
Every tutor is a UK-qualified, DBS-checked teacher with classroom experience of the specification they teach. We do not recruit undergraduates, and we do not claim accreditations, awards or partnerships we do not hold. Learning Loft is a UK company; all tuition is delivered online from the UK.
